This year's trip for clergy and laity to the General Board of Church and Society in Washington, D.C., is set for February 21-24. The topic is mass incarceration. The event, at the United Methodist Building in the heart of Washington, D.C., will be resourced by General Board staff and outside experts. We will have an opportunity to meet with our U.S. senators and/or members of their staff. When you leave, you will have an understanding of how to advocate on behalf of those impacted by our criminal justice and prison system.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS DEADLINE FEBRUARY 16, 2016
The opportunity is here once again for you, your congregation, or any of its members to offer a resolution for consideration at the 2016 Session of Annual Conference. The Mission and Outreach Team is charged with receiving these resolutions and passing them on to Annual Conference with either a vote of concurrence or non-concurrence. Resolutions are to be clearly printed and sent together with supporting documentation. It is preferred that all resolutions be received electronically via email. Please indicate a contact person should the Team need to contact the petitioner for clarification.
Resolutions deadline is February 16, 2016.

GOD'S CALLING EVENT FOR LAITY
Explore the Question: "God, are you calling me?"
Have you ever wondered, "God, where/how is it you are calling me to serve?"
Do you know individuals being called to the ministry of a pastor within the United Methodist Church?
Have you wondered what is the difference in serving as an ordained elder, ordained deacon, a local pastor, and /or a certified lay minister?

You are invited to join us Saturday, February 20, 2016, at St. Johns Newberry UMC in Williamsport for the God's Calling Event presented by the Enlistment & Interpretation Committee of the Susquehanna Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. This is a day apart for laity as we examine the ministry of the ordained elder, ordained deacon, local pastor, and certified ministries of the church. This event will include information in regard to scholarship and grant availability, educational requirements, seminaries, the role of leadership within the church, and "How do I know it is God Who Is Calling Me?"
This is an exciting opportunity for those discerning a call to ministry.
If you are in the candidacy process, this is a requirement for certification, and a requirement for those in the process of becoming a certified lay minister.

THOMAS K. CARTWRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP
(for young ordination candidates)
The Thomas K. Cartwright Scholarship will be granted annually by The Susquehanna Conference of The United Methodist Church. The granting agency is the Enlistment & Interpretation Committee of The Board of Ordained Ministry. The Scholarship honoring the memory of The Reverend Doctor Thomas Kevin Cartwright, who contributed heavily to establishing "The Culture of the Call," encouraging men and women and young people to listen to the call of God to them in the former Central Pennsylvania Conference.
This scholarship has been established to support young adults as they respond to the call to ordained ministry. The recipient will be announced during the awards presentations at Susquehanna Annual Conference. Qualities of the recipient will include demonstrated leadership in the church and the community, academic excellence, and a clearly articulated sense of call to ordained ministry in The United Methodist Church.
Additionally, applicants must be certified candidates for ministry in The Susquehanna Conference of The United Methodist Church who are currently enrolled or accepted into college or seminary and under the age of 35 years as of December 31 of that same year.

REV. GERE REIST TO BE IN RUSSIA FOR PRE-GENERAL CONFERENCE ORIENTATIONS DURING THE 24-HOUR PRAYER VIGIL
During our conference's 24-Hour Prayer Vigil for General Conference, which is scheduled for March 4, Rev. Gere Reist, Secretary of the General Conference, is scheduled to be in Russia preparing for the last of the pre-General Conference orientations in the central conferences. What a wonderful time to hold our brothers and sisters in prayer who are from other countries and nations.
CZECH REPUBLIC LIGHT CONSTRUCTION MISSION TEAM
A Czech Republic Light Construction Mission Team through the "In Mission Together 50/50 PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM" for Eastern Europe and the Balkans is currently seeking people to fill open slots on the team. Leaving Harrisburg Thursday, July 14, 2016, and returning Saturday, July 30, 2016.
Approximate cost of trip is $2800 per person. Older teens are welcome.
