IMPORTANT PROPERTY & CASUALTY INSURANCE PROGRAM UPDATE

A number of churches have raised questions to Industrial Appraisal Company as well as EHD about appraisal updates, in particular about the optional contents appraisals. It has been almost ten years since the first appraisal project was approved at Annual Conference and as such since the first insurance appraisals were completed. Appraisals are considered to have a credible life span of 10 years. A new contract is being entered into at this time with a new firm named AssetWorks to begin a new round of complete building replacement value appraisals starting in July of this year. The new appraisals will be completed over a four year period and will begin with the churches having the oldest appraisals on file. Churches will again be given the option to purchase a detailed contents inventory/appraisal through AssetWorks just as they were with Industrial Appraisal Company.

While Industrial Appraisal did excellent work and maintained a great relationship with the Property & casualty Insurance Committee for 10 years, the contract between the two has now come to an end. It is our recommendation that if you have a contents appraisal due to be updated or redone, that you wait for AssetWorks to contact you during this new appraisal cycle. The insurance policy is structured in such a way that you should not face a coverage disadvantage by waiting for the new appraisal. If you have any questions concerning this issue, please feel free to contact me.
