DISTINGUISHED RELATIONSHIP SPEAKER, LESLIE VERNICK, COMING TO REGION
On Friday April 29, 2016, renowned speaker, author, and relationship coach Leslie Vernick will be hosting a one-day marriage seminar at Faith United Methodist Church in Montoursville. Ms. Vernick is the author of seven books, including the best-selling, "How to Act Right When Your Spouse Acts Wrong, and her most recent, The Emotionally Destructive Marriage." Leslie speaks regularly all over the world on various relationship topics and specializes in training pastors and counselors in the process of shepherding Christians through troubled marriages. In 2013 she received the American Association of Christian Counselors Caregiver of the Year Award.
The seminar is entitled Marriage Cornerstones, and there is a two-fold purpose to the event. First, local counselors, clergy, and lay leaders are invited to attend a training seminar during the day. The objective of the day seminar is to help equip those who are called to come alongside marriages (i.e. - pastors, counselors, volunteers, etc.) and help them build a biblical methodology from which to guide spouses in troubled marriages. Ms. Vernick will facilitate a forum to help professionals think through the idea of a process that integrates biblical principles of grace and truth, to ideally help save troubled marriages.
The second portion of the seminar will take place in the evening, and it is free and open to the public. Ms. Vernick will facilitate a powerful seminar that offers practical, biblical wisdom to help those stuck in destructive relationship patterns. Ms. Vernick has helped hundreds of people move beyond their fears and learn to live free. A sampling of topics that will be covered in the free public session are as follows: Saying "no" and meaning it, having the courage to make choices for yourself, confidently speaking your thoughts and feelings in a constructive way, and learning how to invite someone into healthy change so that destructive patterns are broken.
The day seminar for professionals will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., with lunch and refreshments provided. In addition, there is a $20 registration fee. Pre-registration is preferred by April 22.
The free public evening seminar will be held from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Childcare is available for children up to two years old, but pre-registration is preferred. If you pre-register you will be entered into a "date night" door prize drawing. Please contact Faith United Methodist Church at 570-368-2459 or visit faithum.net to register for either event.
This event is sponsored by concerned Lycoming County Pastors and Counselors (Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville; First United Methodist Church, Williamsport, Friends Church, Hughesville; St. Joseph the Worker, Williamsport; and Cornerstone Family Health).
