PREACHING WITH POWER
Spring 2016 at Middlesex UMC, Carlisle

 
A sampling of topics covered:
- the difference between preaching and public speaking;
- the natural (Spirit & brain-friendly) sequence for sermon; preparation
- mind mapping;
- how to preach without depending on a manuscript;
- how to speak so people listen.

Short lectures, small group work, evaluations of short talks and short sermons, video feedback, and learning from each other will all be used.

PART-TIME ORGANIST / MUSIC DIRECTOR POSITION OPEN AT EMORY UMC, NEW OXFORD
 
Small, active congregation in historic New Oxford seeks an enthusiastic, part-time (10 hours per week) organist/music director. Responsibilities include choosing music for and accompanying blended-style Sunday morning services, conducting rehearsals of adult, children's, and possibly tone chime choirs, and coordinating volunteer musicians. Candidates who have a music degree or appropriate experience and can play the piano and organ are preferred.
