QuikLINK for Friday, February 26, 2016, No. 16029 - SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Issue: #16029
February 26, 2016

February 26, 2016

Dear Clergy and Laity of the Susquehanna Conference,

Grace to you in the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, Healer of our Brokenness and Hope of the World!

It is with gratitude that I announce my intention to appoint the Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Salsgiver, as the Director of Connectional Ministries and Administrative Services, effective July 1st, 2016. Rev. Salsgiver is to complete eight years as the Superintendent of the Lewisburg District in June. The clergy and the laity of the district have offered much appreciation for his transformational leadership during his term as a superintendent. He has also been a great asset to the Cabinet, especially his four years as the Dean.

In addition to his years of superintending ministry of the conference, Rev. Salsgiver served as the Director of Connectional Ministries in the former Central Pennsylvania Conference from 2000 to 2008. He also served as the Pastor at Wesley Church in Bloomsburg, Wellsboro Church, Park Street Church in Harrisburg, and as Associate Pastor at Grace Church, Harrisburg. His ministerial journey includes six years as staff of the General Board of Discipleship (Discipleship Ministries) of our denomination.

Rev. Salsgiver's new position will encompass, not only those responsibilities that are traditionally associated with the Director of Connectional Ministries, but also the responsibilities of the Director of Administrative Services of the conference. He will lead the overall programmatic ministry of the conference and will also provide oversight for the conference staff and its administrative services. He will be a member of the Extended Cabinet along with the Conference Treasurer, Conference Lay Leader, and the Clergy Assistant to the Bishop.

Tom's gifts and graces along with his extensive years of ministry will serve both him and the conference well for such a time as this. Please join me in welcoming Tom to this new appointment. Your prayers for him and his new ministry would be deeply appreciated as you also extend your prayers to Joanne and their family.

With You in Christ's Ministry,
Jeremiah J. Park
