LOUISIANA FLOODING CRISIS IS FAR FROM OVER

Mechanicsburg, Pa - August 18, 2016

With at least thirteen lives lost to today's date, Louisiana's flooding crisis in far from over. The state is still swamped by flooding and tens of thousands of displaced persons needing attention. The National Weather Service warned today, that heavy rains could produce additional flooding.

We are blessed as United Methodists to have effective response mechanisms in place for such disasters as this. United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is calling for monetary support and has called on our own Mission Central for cleaning buckets. Mission Central will need volunteers to work on the buckets.

From the midst of the dashed hopes of legions of residents who fled their flooded homes, a resident was quoted as saying, "It turns you heart upside down." There are three avenues through which you can help turn hearts right-side up.

1.   Pray daily for all persons whose lives have been drastically altered by this crisis.

2.   Share some of your resources through UMCOR.
You can do so through checks payable to Susquehanna Conference
and mailed to:
303 Mulberry Drive
Mechanicsburg, PA 17050
with 9195/Louisiana 2016 Flood in the memo line

3.    Respond to Mission Central needs by visiting missioncentral.org or call 717-766-1533.
