QuikLINK for Friday, January 27, 2017, No. 17020 - SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Issue: #17020
January 27, 2017

January 27, 2017
Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Susquehanna Annual Conference,

Grace to you in the name of Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace, Healer of our Brokenness, and Hope of the World!

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news I received from the Council of Bishops. Retired Bishop Felton May has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is currently under hospice care at his home. Bishop May served as the Resident Bishop of the Harrisburg Episcopal Area during the years of 1984 to 1996. Part of his tenure, Bishop May was also assigned by the Northeastern Jurisdiction Episcopacy Committee to serve as the Resident Bishop of the Wyoming Annual Conference. Those years of sharing the same Episcopal leadership helped to create an environment of mutual understanding and respect between both conferences that was proven beneficial when the new Susquehanna Conference was created in 2010.

I would ask that the laity and clergy of the Susquehanna Annual Conference be in an attitude of prayer for Bishop Felton May. As people of faith, we know that God is always present with us in our individual and collective life journeys. We pray for God's presence, comfort, and assurance to surround Bishop May, his wife Phyllis, and his family.

Grace and Peace,
Jeremiah J. Park
