"NAVIGATING THE WAVES OF CHANGE"
Dave Biser has written about the work that happened at CrossPoint Church in Harrisburg in hopes it can help other churches who are facing change and transformation.
It's taken years of transformation to move CrossPoint from a single point charge to a multi-site church of four campuses and seven weekend services. Here's what one denominational representative says about Biser's new book:
"Here you will find a story of a church that chose a better future than what passivity would have handed it! Had Colonial Park UMC not made a series of critical choices over the last decade and a half, they would be, like so many others: an aging over-the-hill church, ten years past its legendary pastor, now dipping below 200 average worship attendance, and beginning to hit the wave of funerals and financial challenges that would frame its demise in the next 15-20 years. That is where they would be today had the CrossPoint story not happened. But instead, they stand renewed, retooled, and revisioned for a new day, with expectations of expanding and relevant ministry in the coming years! Best of all, there is nothing in the paths they pursued that requires extraordinary genius or Vegas-worthy talent. You can safely try this at home! And it will work."
- Paul Nixon, co-author Weird Church: Welcome to the 21st Century!
