SCHOOL OF CHRISTIAN MISSION TO BE CALLED "MISSION U"
Effective 2013, the School of Christian Mission will change its name to Mission u: Learning Together for the Transformation of the World.
Why the name change? While the Schools of Mission are historic to United Methodist Women in the United States, the term "school" can deter potential participants, particularly younger people. The name "Mission u" keeps the identity with mission and reflects the personal learning experience ("u" as in university and "u" as the text and Web language for you.) The tag line reflects the community aspect of learning and the mission goal of transformation. Mission u also offers a short and succinct appeal with better possibilities for promotion and publicity.
The Susquehanna Conference "Mission u" will be July 12-14, 2013, with Sampler Day on July 11. Held at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, the event is co-sponsored by the Susquehanna Conference and United Methodist Women and is open to men, women, young adults, youth and children. More details will be released soon on Mission u - a new name with the same life-changing learning!
